Welcome to our easy-to-follow and fun drawing tutorial! Follow along with us in this ten-step guide. Today, we’re going to learn how to draw a sheep together.
Sheep are easily recognizable because they are so fluffy! There are over one thousand distinct breeds of sheep worldwide. In some places, you might need to let a sheep cross the road, like in Iceland. Sheep live all over the world, but especially in mountainous areas. They are often found in barnyards alongside cows and horses.
Sheep also have great memories—one study revealed that they are able to recognize up to fifty other sheep faces and even remember them for a few years after. They are also very gentle creatures and were one of the first animals to be domesticated by humans. One of the unique things about sheep is the sound they make—it sounds like a loud “bah” sound, and it’s really unlike other animals. They make this sound to communicate with each other.

How to Draw a sheep — Let’s get started!
Step 1 – Start drawing the sheep’s head.
Let’s start by drawing the top of the head. We’re going to draw some fluffy wool first.
Draw a small cloud shape in the upper-left area of the page. Leave the bottom section disconnected with a gap—we’ll get to this in the next step.
Step 2 – Finish the fluff on the head.
In the gap we left in Step 1, draw two more curves. This completes the fluffy shape on top of the head.
Now, let’s move on to drawing the rest of the head!
Step 3 – Add the rest of the head.
Let’s add the main shape of the head. Underneath the fluffy shape, draw a large curve. It should be round. Look at the photo! Leave plenty of room below to draw the rest of the sheep’s body.
Step 4 – Draw the sheep’s ears.
Let’s add the ears next. Sheep have excellent hearing!
On either side of the head, draw the sheep’s ears. They should be curved lines located about halfway down the head, kind of like sideways semi-circles.

Step 5 – Draw the eyes of the sheep.
In the middle of the head, draw two dots about an inch apart. These represent the eyes. Good job!
Step 6 – Add the nose!
We’re almost done with the face! We’ve just got to add the nose. Fun fact: in addition to their noses, they have scent glands in front of their eyes as well as on their feet!
So, right in between the eyes, add a line made of two curves. Look at the photo! You’ve finished drawing the head completely now—let’s move on to drawing the rest of the body.
Step 7 – Start drawing the body.
Go to the top center of the head. From here, we’re going to start drawing the main shape of the body. In many places, people shear their sheep so that they can use the wool for hats, scarves, and other warm garments.
Draw multiple connected curves, like a scalloped line, which goes around towards the right side of the page. This is just the upper half of the body. Look at the photo for help!
Step 8 – Finish drawing the body.
Continue drawing the body where we left off. Draw the same kind of curved line back around towards the head.
So, the body should have a cloud-like round fluffy shape to it now. Refer to the photo to see what we mean.
Step 9 – Add the feet of the sheep!
Of course, our sheep has to be able to walk! Let’s add some legs and feet to our fluffy friend.
Draw three small semi-circles underneath the main part of the sheep’s body. Because of the perspective, we’ll only be able to see three of the four feet.
Step 10 – Color in your friend!
Time to add some color to your new animal friend. While we typically think of sheep being white, they can be other colors, too. Find some colors to complete your sheep drawing! Fill in the background, too.
Have fun with it!
