How to Draw a Monster — Let’s get started!
Step 1 – Draw a large curve for the body.
Let’s start with the overall shape of the monster’s body! Draw a large curve that takes up most of the page. It should be centered. Right now, this shape may look more like a ghost, but we will add detail to make it look like a monster. Check out the photo!
Step 2 – Draw more of the body.
Next, draw a scalloped line to connect each end of the curve. This forms the bottom outline of the monster’s body!
Step 3 – Draw the monster’s eye!
Our monster is going to look like a cyclops—a one-eyed monster from mythology. In this step, let’s add one large eye in the middle of the body.
To do this, simply draw a large circle in the body. Check out the photo!
Step 4 – Add detail to the eye.
Next, let’s keep adding detail to the eye. Draw five short eyelashes spaced evenly apart on the top of the circle. Then, draw another small circle inside the eye to represent the pupil. Fill it in solid except for a few small dots. This will make it look like it has twinkles in its eye, adding to its friendly demeanor.
Step 5 – Add the monster’s mouth.
This is a fun step. One of the monster’s most unique features is its mouth. Draw a large oval that narrows into soft points on either end. It should look like an open smile. Remember, our monster is nice, so we want it to be smiling!
Next, add a bunch of teeth! Draw four on the top and two on the bottom. Check out the photo!
Step 6 – Draw the monster’s arms!
Our cute monster will also have arms and legs. For the arms, draw two curves on either side of the body. Great job!
Step 7 – Draw the legs and feet!
Let’s add legs, too. Our monster will have short legs and feet and be wearing boots. Referring to the photo, draw two feet.
Step 8 – Add antennas!
This is a fun step! Our monster will look a bit like an alien because it has antennas! On top of the head, draw two slanted lines. Add a small circle at the top of each. Lastly, draw a zig-zag line connecting the two circles! It looks like it has an electrical current.
Step 9 – Add the monster’s horn!
Our monster is also going to have tiny horns! Draw two small horns outside of the antennas on top of the head. Each horn should have a few stripes as well. Check out the photo!
Step 10 – Color in your new creation!
This is a fun step! Find some colors and fill in your drawing however you like. Since our monster doesn’t exist as a real animal, you can go wild with your imagination! Is your monster red, pink, blue, or even striped or spotted? Have fun, and don’t be shy! You can fill in the background, too.
